Who this training is for

This training is mandatory for all line, service and department managers (clerical admin grade V and above, and in clinical areas CNM1/CNM2 and above) and those with responsibility for ensuring adequate provision of health and safety including the identification of hazards and assessment of risks.

Objectives

To provide managers with appropriate information and guidance on the core responsibilities and actions needed to implement a safety management system in their area of remit.

After completing this programme, trainees will be able to:

  • describe their role within the legal and policy context with regard to health and safety in the healthcare setting
  • identify best practice with regard to the implementation of a safety management programme
  • understand the purpose and importance of Site Specific Safety Statement (SSSS)
  • implement a structured approach to risk assessment
