Trade union leave

Employee representatives of recognised trade unions and staff associations may be granted paid time off work for trade union duties. To find out if a union or staff association is recognised, contact your local HR or Employee Relations department.

Your manager will decide whether or not to approve the time off. Such leave requests are dependent on service needs being met.

Representatives may be given special leave with pay to attend conferences and meetings.

The following time limits apply.

Special leave should include time off for getting to and from meetings and conferences.
