Jury service

Jury service is when you are instructed to attend court so the court can select people to sit on juries for upcoming court cases.

Getting excused from doing jury service

You may be excused from doing jury service depending on the nature of your work.

Certain categories of health service employees can be excused from jury service.

These include:

  • doctors
  • nurses
  • midwives
  • dentists
  • pharmacists

Attending jury service

We will support you to attend jury service whenever possible. We may not be able to allow you to attend if your absence will impact crucial services. If this is the case, your manager will give you a certificate explaining this.

Pay while on jury service

You will get full pay and annual leave entitlement while you are on jury service. Your pay includes all allowances or premium payments which may apply.

Apply for jury service leave

Apply for leave for jury service leave through HR and Payroll Self Service. You must also upload your certificate of attendance from the court.

If HR Self-Service is not available in your area, fill out the Jury Service Leave form and return it your line manager.
