In general, all employees in pensionable positions recruited before 1 January 2013 are members of the HSE Superannuation Scheme.
If you transferred from specified bodies (for example former health boards) to the HSE on 1 January 2005 you are also a member of the HSE Superannuation Scheme. You are entitled to the pension terms that applied to you as at 31 December 2004 (ie the Local Government Superannuation Scheme (the 'LGSS').

- pension on retirement
- death-in-service gratuity
- spouse's and children’s pension
- ill-health retirement benefits
