Visiting restrictions introduced at Nenagh Hospital

COVID-19 outbreak impacting Medical Ward 2

21st August 2023 ¦ VISITING RESTRICTIONS have been introduced on one of the inpatient wards at Nenagh Hospital as part of the management of an outbreak of COVID-19 at the hospital.

These restrictions are in effect on Medical ward 2 only. Exceptions to the restrictions will be made on compassionate grounds for patients who are critically ill or at end-of-life, and for people assisting confused patients (e.g., patients with dementia). These exemptions are on a case-by-case basis

We regret the inconvenience this will cause for inpatients at Nenagh Hospital and their loved ones, but the restrictions are necessary to protect the safety of patients and staff and to keep essential healthcare services open for all patients.

Please note that visiting at Medical Ward 1 continues as normal. Patients attending for scheduled care - outpatient clinics, day surgery and endoscopy - are asked to attend their appointments as planned.

We wish to reassure patients and their loved ones that all appropriate infection control precautions are being followed to minimise the risk of spreading COVID-19 infection among staff and patients within our health facilities, and also within the wider community.

Visitors are urged to cooperate with any advice from staff regarding local restrictions, hand hygiene, masks, and other precautions. People with any symptoms of COVID-19 (sore throat, cough, temperature or shortness of breath etc) are asked not to visit our hospitals.
