Dr Mohamed Harb is appointed as a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at University Hospital Limerick

[LIMERICK : August 21st 2023] ¦ UL HOSPITALS GROUP is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Mohamed Harb as a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at University Hospital Limerick (UHL).

Dr Harb completed his Higher Specialist Training in Emergency Medicine at UHL from 2015-2022, following his core training in the specialty during a four-year residency at Mansoura University Hospital in Egypt from 2003 to 2007.

Between his training at Mansoura and taking up post at UHL, Dr Harb worked in Emergency Medicine at Cavan & General Hospital (2022); the International Medical Centre, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (2010-15); Dekirnis General Hospital, Egypt (2009-10); and at the Saudi Arabia Airlines Medical Centre, Jeddah (2007-9).

His education and training credentials include Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBCH) from the Faculty of Medicine, Mansoura University (2001); Master of Science in General Medicine, Mansoura University (2006); memberships of the Irish Association of Emergency Medicine (IAEM), the European Society of Emergency Medicine (EuSEM); and Fellowship of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM) in the UK.

He was awarded a Certificate of Specialty Doctor with the Medical Council of Ireland on completion of his Emergency Medicine training in 2022, and is currently training as an Examiner in Continuing Professional Development Support Scheme courses with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI).

Dr Harb’s primary area of interest as an emergency medicine consultant with UL Hospitals Group is quality improvement in emergency medicine, acute medicine, resuscitation and ultrasound.

Away from the Emergency Department, Dr Harb’s main interests include football and reading.
