Clinical Education and Research Centre

The Clinical Education and Research Centre (CERC) at University Hospital Limerick provides first class training facilities. It is home to the University of Limerick's (UL) School of Medicine as well as the educational and research needs of our hospital staff. The CERC is run by the HSE and UL.

Teaching facilities include:

• a lecture hall that can seat 150 people. It has modern audio-visual equipment. It can also project 3D images from Robotic Surgical procedures
• eight modern tutorial rooms. Three of these have video conferencing facilities to connect to affiliate hospitals. The rooms cater for different sizes of tutorial groups ranging from 10 to 40 people
• a large clinical area which is made to look like a typical hospital ward or intensive care unit

The CERC building is also home to:

• Midwest Intern Network
• Health Research Institute, Clinical Research Unit
• Health Sciences Academy
• The Regional Medical Library
