Eist is a communication awareness training for all healthcare staff. It was developed by the adult SLT department in Wexford Primary Care and Disability Services as it has been highlighted that many adults with communication difficulties are overlooked and not well supported when accessing healthcare services.
This is a short 1.5 hour training to increase staff’s awareness of communication difficulties by explaining:
- What is communication
- How people can communicate differently
- Practical strategies to support communication
- Use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
