SAOR© Screening and Brief Intervention for Alcohol and Substance Use Training

The SAOR model teaches you how to have short, helpful conversations about alcohol and drug use, using the SAOR Screening and Brief Intervention approach.

The training is based on the second edition of SAOR (2017). It is delivered using a blended learning approach. Participants complete a short eLearning module on HSeLanD before attending a 1-day skills practice workshop.

The training is available to staff who work with people who may use drugs and alcohol or who support people with alcohol and drug use.

This includes (but is not limited to) staff who work in the following settings:

  • acute care
  • mental health services
  • community-based services
  • child and family services
  • homeless agencies
  • family support
  • employment support
  • vocational training
  • criminal justice
  • probation
  • primary care services
  • third level colleges
  • sporting organisations
