Children First

Important

The HSE has a responsibility under Children First to ensure all staff and volunteers can recognise signs of child abuse and make a report to the Child and Family Agency (Tusla).

An Introduction to Children First training is mandatory for HSE staff.

This includes staff that are:

  • permanent
  • temporary
  • agency
  • locum or visiting

It also includes students and volunteers.

Duration

The eLearning module lasts approximately one and a half hours.

Volunteer registration for the training module

To find the training module on HSeLanD, click on ‘my learning’ and type 'children first' in the search box.

Certification

You will get a certificate when you have successfully completed the module. You should forward this to your line manager.

You can continue to retake the module until you achieve the pass rate.

Your certificate is valid for 3 years. You can do refresher training after 3 years and you will get a new certificate.
