The goal of the Spark Ignite Competition is to help frontline healthcare workers in developing solutions to challenges faced by care providers and patients through the development of new products or services.
The initiative is open to all disciplines and departments within the HSE, enabling staff to validate their ideas by showing a clinical need, and determining market potential.

Unsure how to complete the development journey and get it rolled out?
Spark Ignite will introduce you to essential knowledge about healthcare entrepreneurship and equip you with the skills and supports needed to bring your idea to reality.
The initiative provides funding, mentoring support and network building to help you on your entrepreneurial journey.
What are we looking for?
- motivated, passionate individuals or teams
- innovative healthcare solutions, products, or services with commercial potential
- ideas for healthcare innovations that could be adopted across the health service for broad scale impact
Successful applicants will benefit from
- a bespoke healthcare entrepreneurship programme delivered in collaboration with our partners at HIHI and the GEC
- mentorship from some of Ireland’s top healthcare entrepreneurs
- expert design input to help refine your idea
- access to funds of up to €5,000 towards the development of your idea
- access to a pipeline of further supports within the healthcare innovation network
- a chance to participate in a mentoring session with the HIHI Clinical Innovation Award Committee
- an opportunity for your idea to be showcased at Spark Summit 2024
