The HSE and the Department of Health has launched the first version of the HSE Health App.
The first version of the HSE Health App gives people access to health information, their COVID-19 and flu vaccination records, digital medication lists, medical cards, and EHIC cards in one place. Expectant mothers will also be able to see their upcoming maternity appointments.
Anyone age 16 or older can use the app. It can be downloaded on to a smartphone from the App Store or Google Play. You need a verified MyGovID account to log in to the app and access personal health information.
The first version of the HSE Health App is now available for download. A group of over 1,000 people reviewed an early version of the app. This helped us test its features, performance, and how easy it is to use before its public release.
We will continue to add new features to the app, including the ability to view appointments at all public hospitals. This is a significant programme of work. While there will be challenges, the key priority is to ensure that the app evolves and benefits patients and the public.
The HSE Health App is a key initiative of the Government's Digital for Care: A Digital Health Framework for Ireland 2024-2030. Over time, most patient-facing digital health services will be available on the app.
Patients and service users
Patients and service users can currently use the app to:
- see maternity clinic appointments
- keep a record of the medications they take
- see a list of medicines they received through the Drugs Payment Scheme or Medical Card scheme
- see digital versions of cards like the EHIC, Medical Card, GP Visit Card, Long Term Illness Card and Drugs Payment Scheme Card
- see COVID-19 and flu vaccination records
- get health information and advice
- easily find information about HSE services, such as emergency departments and injury units
Maternity patients
Maternity patients can get the following information about hospital appointments:
- appointment date and time
- clinic name, address and eircode
- clinic phone number and email address
The app is optional for maternity patients. They do not have to use it to view their appointments and will continue to receive appointment letters.
The appointment information displayed in the app comes from the HSE Integrated Patient Management System (iPMS) for specific clinics. Not all appointments for all clinics will be displayed in the app.
Maternity patients cannot change or cancel their appointments using the app. They should contact the clinic where they are scheduled to have their appointment.

Logging in to the app
You need to log in to the app to view personal health information including:
- hospital appointments, if you are a maternity patient
- health cards
- COVID-19 and flu vaccine details
To log in to the app you need a verified MyGovID. You will only see your personal health information in the app if you log in.
Logging in with a verified MyGovID means we know we are sharing personal health information with the right person.
You can still use some parts of the app without a verified MyGovID. You will be able to find information about health conditions and HSE services. But you will not be able to see your personal health information.
To get a verified MyGovID you need a PPS number and a Public Services Card (PSC).
If you do not have a PSC, it can take a few days to get one.

Support and accessibility
HSE Live is available to assist people who need help using the app.
People can continue to access services and healthcare as usual if they choose not to use the app .
We will continue to work with voluntary organisations, advocacy groups and disabled people’s organisations to make the app as inclusive and useful for as many people as possible.
