Because of service demands during COVID-19, it has been difficult for managers to allow employees to take their full annual leave entitlement.
For employees unable to take annual leave because of service requirements, managers should waive normal leave arrangements:
- ensuring full annual leave entitlement is used in the current leave year
- applying a maximum to carrying over untaken annual leave
Employees can carry the unused leave, in full, to the following leave year.
Managers should:
- keep records of annual leave not taken to ensure it is carried over in full to the following leave year
- ensure plans are in place to enable employees to take unused annual leave within the following leave year
