SKILL programme

The SKILL (Securing Knowledge Intra Lifelong Learning) programme is a Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) Level 5 training and development programme for Health Service support staff.

The programme leads to the internationally-recognised qualification of QQI Award (formerly known as FETAC). QQI is an independent state agency responsible for promoting quality and accountability in education and training services in Ireland.

The aims of the SKILL programme are to:

  • update and extend your knowledge, skills and experience to help you become more efficient in the jobs you perform and improve services to patients and clients
  • develop areas of expertise in order to progress skill mix requirements of the health services
  • enhance job satisfaction and motivation so you may contribute fully to the attainment of your organisation’s mission
  • develop strategies to create opportunities regarding promotional outlets and career path movement

Applications are currently open for health care support assistants who have an interest in obtaining the Health Service SKILL award at QQI Level 5.
