Guidance

The MMP publishes Guidance Documents, Evaluation Reports and Prescribing Tips and Tools to support healthcare professionals in the safe, effective and cost-effective use of medicines and non-drug products.

The MMP has published guidance in a number of areas:

Dry Eye Syndrome
Gabapentin and Pregabalin
Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) Shortages
Opioids in the Management of Chronic Non Cancer Pain
Oral Nutritional Supplements (ONS)

First-line standard ONS (List A) do not require prior reimbursement approval for dispensing on the Community Drug Schemes. Non first-line standard ONS (List B) require prior reimbursement approval for dispensing on the Community Drug Schemes. List A and List B can be found below.

The MMP has completed an evaluation to identify preferred high-protein ONS. A copy of the evaluation report can be found below.
