Faqs on working remotely and collaboration tools

In order to access the HSE network or use communication resources to link in with your colleagues and teams, there are a number of options available.

If you are considering using your HSE laptop at home, in addition to internet access through home broadband (if you do not have a HSE smartphone or HSE mifi) you will require additional configuration. This is also to ensure the connection is secure.

The following FAQs will help you in deciding which option is the best for you.

Remote working options

You can work remotely using a VPN account (virtual private network, also known as checkpoint or secure remote) or accessing CAG (Citrix Access Gateway or Storefront). See request forms for these applications

Do you have access to HSE laptop, HSE smartphone or HSE mifi?

If yes, then you will be able to access email, files, internet and some applications.

I only have access to a HSE smartphone - what can I do?

With a HSE smartphone, you can access email, Whatsapp and text messages. You can also join MS Teams or MS Skype by dialing in from the conference ID in the meeting invite. If you cannot access your HSE email on your HSE smartphone contact HSEMobilitysupport@vodafone.com

I need to work from home and need access to work remotely - what do I do?

You will need to request a VPN or CAG account access (if you already have a laptop).

I need to work from home (or I am a manager and need some of my team to work from home) - how do I get access to the network and/or systems?

Complete the remote access VPN request form and arrange to have a ticket logged with your service desk mailbox.

I just need access to email - how do I set this up?

You will need to have a HSE smartphone. If you do not have a HSE smartphone, get an order form completed with a GL (general ledger) or cost code for charging. Send the form to the relevant order contacts. More information on how to order a smartphone

How can I get access to a teleconference facility (for up to 10 people)?

You can use the Government networks conference bridge

Using Skype

Existing Skype user

If you are an existing Skype user, you may experience connection or sound issues during the current COVID-19 crisis. This is due to capacity issues including the number of users accessing the system at the one time.

HSE Skype for business is not supported on android. You may wish to consider alternative comms or messaging resources, for example, Whatsapp or the Government teleconferencing facility
