Critical care nursing - Foundation Education Module (Level 8)

This 26-week NMBI accredited Level 8 (10 ECTS) Certificate programme is provided by University College Dublin (UCD) and University College Cork (UCC).

It is delivered 2 times a year commencing February and September with a maximum of 30 students per site.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply you must:

  • be activity registered on the current Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the NMBI OR evidence that registration with the NMBI will be complete by the proposed commencement date of the module
  • show evidence that you will be working in a critical care environment for the duration of the module and for a minimum of 78 hours/month
  • have a letter of support if you are a HSE or HSE funded hospital employee from the Director of Nursing/Midwifery confirming their support for you to attend and the availability of a clinical mentor in practice
  • show evidence that a designated Clinical Assessor/Clinical Mentor/Supervisor/Preceptor has completed a recognised preceptorship training and has obtained a qualification in intensive care nursing
