How the ONMSD works with the National Clinical and Integrated Care Programmes/Clinical Design and Innovation

The Office of the Nursing and Midwifery Services Director (ONMSD) supports Clinical Design and Innovation, Office of the Chief Clinical Officer (CCO), the Integrated Care Lead, National Clinical Advisor Group Leads’ (NCAGLs) and National Clinical Programmes (NCPs) and Integrated Care Programmes (ICPs). We do so by providing advice, guidance and by sourcing nurse and midwifery input from the wider professional community as appropriate to the NCPs and ICPs.

The overarching objectives of the NCPs and ICPs are to improve quality, access and cost-effectiveness for users of the public health services.

The ONMSD works to:

  • Champion and drive the work of the NCPs and ICPs and assist with implementation.
  • Represent the views of the nursing and midwifery community to the NCPs and ICPs
  • Ensure dissemination of information to our nursing and midwifery community
  • Contribute to the development of postgraduate clinical skills education programmes as appropriate
