Transfer of learning, deferrals, withdrawals and fee repayment for nursing and midwifery education programmes

Transfer of learning

The transfer of learning from the classroom to the workplace is your responsibility in conjunction with your line manager.

It is crucial that you and your line manager discuss the programme throughout the duration of the programme.

Managers must help to link research and project work to service developments and to afford opportunities for you to apply your new knowledge or skill in your role.

Defer or withdraw from a programme

It is your responsibility to contact the funding unit immediately if:

  • you withdraw from or stop attending your funded programme
  • you plan to defer a place on a programme for which you have accepted funding

Repayment of fees and salary

Repeat exams and programmes

If you have to repeat elements of a funded programme, you must remain in the employment of your current employing agency during the repeat period.

Funding is not provided for repeat modules or units of study or examination. You will have to cover the cost of this.

If you end your employment or take a career break

If you end your employment or take a career break, you will have your funding withdrawn.

Your employer will seek repayment of the programme fees.

Incomplete programmes

If you don't complete the funded programme your sponsorship will end.

Your employer will seek repayment of the programme fees.

Exceptional circumstances

In exceptional circumstances, it may be possible to get a waiver or deferral. This at your employer's discretion.
